The Oshawa Public Libraries collects a variety of materials which help us preserve Oshawa's history, and help library visitors research its past.

Library users who want to explore the history of Oshawa in images may be interested in Pictorial Oshawa Revisited. The book, which includes updated descriptions of the photographs, as well as 18 new never-before-seen images, is available for $45 at the McLaughlin and Northview branches; copies can be sent to Jess Hann and Legends.

If you require assistance in pursuing or identifying local history or genealogy information available within the Oshawa collection, you are invited to contact us with a Local History and Genealogy Research Request. We will do our best to locate and make available to you any part of the collection which might assist in your research.

The Library also provides access to a large digital collection of books and pamphlets that reflect and inform on our local history. Many of these texts have been scanned and are available for access over the web.

We invite you to begin your Local History research with these key resources.
