Check Out the Internet

Beginning March 12th , Oshawa Public Library members will be able to borrow portable Wi-Fi Hotspots to use anywhere, anytime they need it.

It’s a common misconception that everyone has access to the Internet, but those without access can find it difficult to participate fully in today’s digital world.

“The Internet plays such a vital role in our everyday lives,” Says Frances Newman, C.E.O., “Students complete assignments online, and many employers accept resumes and applications online exclusively. For some, the internet is the only way to stay connected with loved ones. It's a huge disadvantage for those who can’t afford to have the Internet in their homes.”

The new Wi-Fi Hotspots can be borrowed for one week at a time with unlimited data, and at no charge to the borrower, providing it is returned on time. Eligible borrowers must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Oshawa Public Libraries card.

The Friends of the Oshawa Public Library have sponsored the cost of data for this pilot project.
