Jane has lived an ordinary life, raised by her aunt Magnolia—an adjunct professor and deep-sea photographer. Jane counted on Magnolia to make the world feel expansive and to turn life into an adventure. However, Aunt Magnolia was lost a few months ago in Antarctica on one of her expeditions.
Now, with no direction, a year out of high school, and obsessed with making umbrellas that look like her own dreams (but mostly just mourning her aunt), she is easily swept away by Kiran Thrash—a glamorous, capricious acquaintance who shows up and asks Jane to accompany her to a gala at her family’s island mansion called Tu Reviens.
Jane remembers her aunt telling her: “If anyone ever invites to you to Tu Reviens, promise me that you’ll go.” With nothing but a trunkful of umbrella parts to her name, Jane ventures out to the Thrash estate. Then her story takes a turn, or rather, five turns. What Jane does not know is that Tu Reviens will offer her choices that can ultimately determine the course of her untethered life. At Tu Reviens, every choice comes with a reward, or a price.

In the third book of the ‘Nightshade’ series, Shay must retrieve the last pieces of the elemental cross; the only weapons that can destroy wraiths and banish Bosque Mar back to the Nether. Still finding out who he is as the Scion, he must endure a journey with some guardians and searchers who have now formed an alliance. They will meet many obstacles along the way such as other guardians guarding the sites who want to stop them at all costs.
Although Calla has been itching for a battle, she also has other matters to deal with, such as supporting and vouching for her brother, even if he did betray them; finding and saving Ren despite what Shay thinks; leading her pack as the alpha; and keeping her feelings for Ren and Shay in check, not just for Ren or Shay but for herself.
The keepers are soon on the searchers’ trails determined to stop them from returning Bosque Mar to the nether, the realm where all the keepers get their powers from. If Bosque Mar disappears, so do their powers to conjure Succubi, Incubi, Wraiths and other evil but powerful creatures.
Personally, this book was very enjoyable because there was so much adventure! New plot changes were always surprising and constantly had me predicting what was going to happen and how each situation would play out. Romance and jealousy were also tied in and sometimes affected the characters decisions and outcomes. Many difficult decisions and sacrifices were made. Overall, I absolutely loved this book! Between all the action and mystery, this book is definitely on my top 10 list. I highly recommend Bloodrose and the other books in the Nightshade series, to anyone who enjoys fiction novels. – Juliana M.
