An Abundance of Katherine’s

The book is centred around Colin Singleton, a teenage genius from Chicago who fears that by the time he gets to be an adult, his genius will dissipate, and he’ll turn out just like the rest of the world. However, what makes him different is not the fact that he can remember who the 17th secretary of state for Missouri is, it’s the fact that during the course of this life, he’s managed to date 19 girls all named Katherine. K-A-T-H-E-R-I-N-E. Same spelling and everything. And, every single one had dumped him. After just getting dumped by Katherine XIX, Colin feels a sense of longing. He calls his best and only friend, Hassan Harbish, who suggests they go on a road trip to ease Colin’s mind off of the breakup, which results in the two travelling from Chicago to Tennessee on a wild journey of adventure and self-discovery.

The book was published in 2006, so it is a bit older; however, it still resonates with me and is a fantastic book, and I would recommend it! It does have a few “inappropriate” things such as a few swear words, kiss scenes, as well as mentions of alcohol, but it is overall another great book by John Green. I found myself falling in love with all the characters almost immediately and felt a sense of longing when the book was done. It’s one of those books that I can read over and over again and still enjoy!
